Minichamps have announced the following BMW M3 Team MK-Motorsport Eifelrennen Nuerburgring Thiim and Kurt from 1988. Scale = 1:18 Price = £60 GBP (estimated) Colour = Black Product Code = 100882031 UK Release = April 2009 Official Minichamps Picture = Kurt Thiim (*August 3rd 1958 in Vojens) is a Danish race car driver. After first successes in carting, Thiim in 1978 moved into motorsports racing. From Formula Ford he advanced quickly into the Formula Super V and then into Formula 3. After achieving the German Formula 3 championship title in 1984 he was not able to advance in the higher Formula classes, such as the Formula 3000 or Formula 1. As a result Thiim moved into touring car racing. Already in 1986 he won the German touring car championship on a Rover Vitesse. During these times, mainly private tuners participated in the DTM. The factory teams, such as Mercedes, BMW, Opel or Alfa Romeo, with whom many associate DTM, were hardly active in this series at that time. In the following years the DTM quickly evolved into a fast factory championship. In 1988 Kurt Thiim was offered a seat in the BMW M3 MK Motorsport and experienced a fantastic comeback at the Eifel race, by immediately winning it. At mid season he changed to AMG Mercedes and from then on drove a Mercedes 190E 2.3-16. |
